Learning Methods

Online
Online courses are conducted through our online delivery system.

This is state of the art, unique software written by our in house programmers. It has been developed to "fit" with the courses which we also develop, which means a higher degree of compatibility between the software that drives your course, and the course notes you are working with. (Most colleges and universities tend to use either free software or generic software products to deliver their courses).

You can access all course materials through a massive database on the internet; using a unique user name and password we give you. Our system incorporates a student room, online library, video streaming, interactive self assessment tests, and much more.

E-Learning
This is almost identical to the online study option except that you are sent a USB (Memory Stick), which can run on any computer. This means that the course can be studied with or without a connection to the internet. If internet speed, access or connectivity are ever an issue for any reason, students may find this a better option.

Assignment submission is through the online assignment submission system.

What about Printed Notes and Text Books?
Whether you are working online or off a Memory Stick, you can print your own copy of course notes from pdf's if this is required. The format we supply is compatible with printers.

The course study guides we supply will contain essential course notes. Our own publishing business has written and published eBooks, specifically designed as supplementary reading to be used with courses, these are useful for students who are seeking extra reference material.

  • Note: Most, but not all courses have supplementary reading published by our school.
  • Discounts for online courses are not displayed until you click the "enrol now" button.

WHY DISTANCE EDUCATION IS MORE EFFECTIVE THAN A CLASSROOM

Different people learn in different ways. When a course is taught by one teacher communicating with 10, 20 or more students, there will always be a large proportion of students who are not being taught in the best way possible.

Renowned expert Bernice McCarthy determined four types of learners as follows:

  • Students who ask "Why" – These students seek a reason or purpose, they represent around 35% of the population, and will learn best through discussion.

  • Students who ask "What" – These students want facts, and may expect to be “spoon fed”. They may not be interested in processing information. Their natural tendency may be to simply collect information and move on. They account for around 22% of people. The value of their learning experience may be limited by their own obsession with facts.

  • Students who ask "How" – Representing around 18% of people, these learners are pragmatic and  want to know how things work, then do things with what they learn.

  • Students who ask "What If" – These people want to explore all the consequences and possibilities. They learn through self discovery. They represent around 25%.

When for example, a teacher focuses on answering Why, they will be doing the best for 35% of a class, but failing with the other 65%.

When a student communicates with a distance education tutor, they are in a one to one dialogue. This allows the teacher to focus on showing a student "Why"; if the student learns best that way. If however the student is more inclined to explore "What", "How" or "What if"; the teacher can then focus on one of those things.

Studying this Course Enables the Tutor to Cater to the Type of Student You Are

You will interact with our staff through assignments, but also in any other way, and whenever else you need to.

It does not matter what method of study you choose. You can have a dialogue with expert staff over chat, email or the phone whenever it is needed throughout your study, and any conversation is totally focused on your individual needs. You don't have to share a tutor with other students.
